Academy Division

This division is designed for students seeking rigorous and systematic dance training. Ballet is the focus and foundation in our nurturing and disciplined program. The number of classes per week increases with each level advanced to. Ages are an approximation: levels are at the discretion of the staff. There are dress requirements. Our tuition cap allows students in Ballet II/III and III to comfortably participate in Contemporary and the Studio Company. Ballet II students are also welcome to join the Studio Company!

Youth dance lessons for children ages 8 and up in ballet, jazz, and more.

Rocket Boys

AGES 5-12 years

These boys get to jump, turn, kick and move. They will gain coordination, flexibility and power that will ready them for both sports and dance. This class is offered on a semester basis.

Ballet II

AGES 8-10

Two ballet technique classes are required per week.

The curriculum is a complete and structured classical ballet class with its full embodiment of grace, poise, and physical and mental development. Students are encouraged to participate in Contemporary class and the Studio Company.

Royal blue camisole leotard - Mirella M201C (Adult sizes are also available--201L.) Note: Undergarments are not worn under leotard and tights by this level.
Body Wrappers convertible tights - C81 theatrical pink color
Pink split sole canvas ballet shoes--style is up to the discretion of the dancer
White hip alignment belt 62S or #hip
Hair has to be neatly pulled off the face, with long hair being secured in a ballet bun.
Boys – White fitted t-shirt; black shorts or tights (dance support belt as needed); white socks; white canvas split sole ballet shoes

Ballet II/III

AGES 11 & up

This is a “bridge” class designed to prepare the student for the rigors of Ballet III. Three classes are required per week. Pre/Beginning Pointe is part of this level. When the instructor is comfortable with the strength, flexibility and knowledge of the dancer, pointe work will begin. Style and fit must be approved before elastics and ribbons are sewn on the shoes. Participation in the Contemporary class and the Studio Company is highly recommended.

Pre-Pointe

AGES 11 and up

This 1/2 hour class follows the Ballet II/III Friday class. It is designed to prepare the student for the more advanced work that follows in Ballet III where pointe is part of the curriculum.

Ballet III

AGES 11 and up

Three ballet classes per week are required. Students are fully immersed in their training at this stage with pointe work included for girls and upper body strength building work for boys. Pointe A accompanies this level with the approval of the director. Students should participate in the Contemporary class and the Studio Company.

Pointe A

AGES 11 and up

Students must be enrolled in BALLET III. This class directly follows a technique class and the staff must approve participation. Pointe work is a privilege afforded those with the requisite commitment to class participation. At this level, students have gained the necessary physical strength, flexibility and understanding of proper body placement. Pointe shoe style and fit must be checked by the instructor before ribbons and elastics are sewn on.

Contemporary

This style is rooted in classical ballet technique, but elements of jazz, neoclassical and modern are incorporated into the movements. Contemporary works are now found in all major dance companies. This class is part of the Ballet III curriculum. Ballet II and II/III students are also encouraged to join. Students from the Open Division may take this class if they are also enrolled in the Pre & Early Teen ballet class

Dress requirements:
Class leotard and and convertible tights rolled up over the feet. Socks are optional if the dancer is "sticking" to the floor in turns.

Junior Studio Company

Ballet II students are eligible to join this group. There will be a performance the end of January. This is in addition to our yearly, end-of-year, production. Rehearsals are 1/2 hour long will take place on Saturdays after their technique class. Performance pieces will be predominantly from classical ballets such as Nutcracker, Coppelia and Cinderella. Contemporary and new works will be introduced in the main Studio Company.

Studio Company

Students in Ballet II/III, III, & IV are invited to join this group. Rehearsals will take place after their Saturday technique class and run from 2:30 to 3:30 or 4:00 The dancers will learn and perform classical variations and new choreography.  A contemporary work taught by Jacob Frazier will also be presented. There will be an in-studio performance in end of January.

Ballet IV

Students who are ready for this level should speak to the director. This level is currently blended with some of the adult level classes.
